WALTER K BRUMBAUGH

 

Walter K. "Butch" Brumbaugh, 63, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday at Oakland VA Hospital.

He was born in Brownsville, son of the late Walter E. and Virginia L. (Mayfield) Brumbaugh. He married Debora L. Ondo.

Surviving are his wife; three sons: Jeremiah, serving in the U.S. Navy in Connecticut, Zachary of San Diego, Calif., and Edward of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Kenny, Landon and Kaitlyn; and two sisters: Debbie Eastep of Williamsburg and Barbara Decker of Hollidaysburg.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Josiah; and a sister, Virginia Campbell.

Mr. Brumbaugh was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict. He retired as a driver from Smith Transport, Roaring Spring. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where he served as a reader. He was a Third Degree Knight in the Star of the Sea Council and also a member of the DAV.

Butch enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg (www.sorgefuneralhome.com), where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Anthony J. Legarski.

Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
