EDWARD DZIELSKI

 

Edward Dzielski, 92, Hollidaysburg, died Friday, August 14, 2009, at Garvey Manor.

He was born June 11, 1917, in Altoona, son of the late Frank and Caroline (Olszeioski) Dzielski. He married Anna M. Shevock in 1960 in Nanty Glo, by Father Hacala.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years; a son, John E., of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and two nieces, Carol L. Hallberg and Barbara Altiero.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Father Sebastian Dzielski, O.S.M., Walter F. and Albert; and two sisters, Ann Overton and Sister Rachel, R.S.M.

Edward was a 1936 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He served with Lockheed Aircraft before WWII and with the RAF during WWII.

He worked on drilling rigs for ARAMCO, Saudi Arabian Oil Co. Mr. Dzielski was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and a 4th Degree Knight of the Star of the Sea Council, Knights of Columbus.

Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg (www.sorgefuneralhome.com). A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church by Father Clement G. Gardner.

Committal will be at Green Lawn Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
