Thomas James King, 74, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday evening at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Oil City, Venango County, son of the late Francis Edward and Josephine (Thompson) King. He married Margaret A. "Peggy" Crownover on Aug. 13, 1966, in Williamsburg.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Blair F. of Williamsburg; a daughter, Tammy J. of York; a grandson, Joshua T. of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: F. Edward and Joseph T.; and a sister, Mary Ellen.

Tom was a 1958 graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Oil City; a 1962 graduate of Clarion University, where he participated in the wrestling program, with a bachelor's degree in education; and a 1980 graduate of St. Francis University, Loretto, with a master's degree in education.

He retired as a special education teacher from Williamsburg Community School District in 1997, and he previously was employed as a special education teacher at Bellwood-Antis School District and Central High School, Spring Cove School District, with a combined 35 years of total service. He also assisted the Williamsburg School District Athletic Department, assuming many roles when assistance was needed. He was also employed as a GED tutor at Blair County Prison and the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon.

Tom was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williamsburg, where he served as lector, CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister and was a member of the parish council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4245, Hollidays-burg. He served on the board of directors of the Williamsburg Burial Association.

He enjoyed solving puzzles, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football and watching his grandson participate in Blue Pirate athletics.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Friday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Father Aron M. Maghsoudi officiating. Committal service will follow at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be given to the American Diabetes Association, St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Williamsburg Farm Show Association.
