John Joseph Folk, 65, of Saint Hubert Hollow Road, Six Mile Run, passed away at 4:29 AM on Sunday July 22, 2012 at his home. Joe was born in Six Mile Run, PA on May 3, 1947, a son of John Sylvester Folk of Six Mile Run and the late Anna Rose (Smith) Folk.
Joe was united in marriage to Brenda F. (Seager) Folk on April 1, 1967 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Dudley. They were married for 45 years.
He was a 1965 graduate of Tussey Mt. High School, a 1969 graduate of Findlay College, and did post graduate work at Shippensburg university and Penn State University.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church Dudley, PA 16634 where he was the president of the Grotto Committee, president of the finance council, a Lector, and Coordinator of the ICC Food Pantry.
He worked as a Educator at the Youth Forestry Camp at Trough Creek, PA.,He had also taught at the Tussey Mt. School District as well as working at the Delta Coal Mine. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4245 of Hollidaysburg, PA Trappers Assn., and was an instructor for youth hunting and trapping. Joe's favorite past-time was spending time with his favorite chocolate lab "Nick" and his grandchildren, church and community family. He also enjoyed trivia, music, history, and Irish Heritage. Joe loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, making maple syrup,and cutting firewood. Joe is also survived by
two daughters, Julie A., wife of Brian Scritchfield, of Granville, OH;
Jennifer M. Folk, of Six Mile Run, PA;
a son,Jeremy P. "Bear" Folk, of Six Mile Run, PA;
Joe is also survived by
a sister, Kimberly Morningstar of Six Mile Run, PA
He is also survived by Mr. Folk is survived by the following grandchildren, Zachary Cole and Hannah Rose Folk whom were reared in Joe and Brenda's home, and Emma Jane and Jason Scritchfield of Granville, OH.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry S. Folk and a niece Terri Ann Morningstar.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home Inc. Friends are also invited to call Wednesday 9-10 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church. .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Church, Dudley, PA, at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 25th, with Father Bernard White officiating.
Interment at Ave Maria Cemetery Dudley, PA.
