RAYMOND J STOLTZ JR.

 

Raymond J. Stoltz Jr., 77, Altoona, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of Raymond J. Sr. and Julia (Sidler) Stoltz. He married Martha Troutman on Dec. 17, 1994, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Pamela M. and fiance, James, of Lilly; a stepdaughter, Sherry Scalzi and husband, John, of Altoona; three sons: Timothy R. and wife, Lois, of Cresson, Barry F. and wife, Sue, of Maryville, Tenn., and Douglas P. and fiancee, Megan, of Indiana, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Sarah, Matthew, Carol, Julie, Jake, Molly, Brooke and Jimmy; two step-grandchildren: John and Nicole; two great-grandchildren: Christian and Carter; a step-great-grandchild, Brianna; two sisters: Julia Aungst of Altoona and Mary Rita Stoltz of Cresson; and five brothers: Thomas, Joseph and Andrew, all of Altoona, Clem in New York and David in New Hampshire.

Ray was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as an electrician's mate after high school. He was a licensed journeyman electrician and retired in 2000 after many years of service.

Ray was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing and playing his guitar.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church by Franciscan Fathers, T.O.R. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona.
