JAMES R MC TIGUE

 

James R. McTigue, 70, Duncansville, died Wednesday at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late William T. and Margaret (Hogue) McTigue. He married Sandra "Sonnie" Drass on July 22, 1967, in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Dana Berkheimer (Bill) and Melissa "Missy" Berish (Michael), both of Altoona; four grandchildren: Caitlin and Tyler Berkheimer and Michael and Sydney Berish; two brothers: John and Dave, both of Altoona; three sisters: Tina Johnson in Florida, Barbara Neugebauer in Maryland and Deanna Ernest in Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: William T. Jr. and Harold "Pat."

James was a 1958 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and completed various electrical training courses. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from Penelec after 37 years of service and currently was acting as an instructor for new trainees for Penelec.

James was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Blairmont Country Club, Bavarian Aid Society and Allegheny Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and all sporting events, especially with his grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona (www.stevensmortuary.com), where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
