COUNCIL #5480 - WALTER POLLARD REMEMBERS
ANTONIN SCALIA

Antonin Scalia, Supreme Court Justice, has died of natural causes at a luxury resort in West Texas, according to the San Antonio Express-News. He was 79. Scalia was found in his room after he did not appear for breakfast at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, near Marfa, Texas. An anonymous federal official said there was no evidence of foul play, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Appointed to the Supreme Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1986, Scalia was one of the primary conservative voices for the court. His legal opinions reflected his views as an originalist, meaning he interpreted the U.S. Constitution as he believed it was intended at the time was written. His forceful manner during oral arguments often drew the ire of those who disagreed with him politically. However, he was respected in legal circles for his well-written and frequently entertaining opinions. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Scalia and their nine children. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/richmond-va/obituary.aspx?n=antonin-scalia&pid=177712953#sthash.SdEtIwnL.dpuf
