Beloved husband of Martha Ann Higgins (nee Simmons) for 59 years; Devoted and loving father of Kevin (Carol) Higgins, Eileen Munoz, Herb (Patrice) Higgins, Patrick (Bonnie) Higgins, Brendan (Kristi) Higgins, Kathleen (Scott) DeAvilla, and Maureen (Steve) Talbott; Cherished and devoted grandfather of 21 and great grandfather of 7; Loving brother-in-law of Mary Ellen Higgins of Atlanta, GA., Catherine Wheat of Lawerence, KS., and Fran Sedlik of Seward, AK., Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews, cousin and friend. Preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Long; and one brother, Thomas Higgins.
He graduated from Ward High School in Kansas City, KS. and St. Benedict College in Atchison, KS. He coached at St. Joseph High School in Shawnee, KS. and Redemptorist High School in Kansas City, MO.
He served in combat during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the K of C, VFW, and the American Legion. |
