LARRY SHAUGHNESSY

 

Lawrence Henry Shaughnessy, 92, of Kansas City, Mo. peacefully passed away from pancreatic cancer in his Broken Arrow, Ok. home lovingly surrounded by family on November 24, 2015. Larry was born to Maurice & Cecelia Shaughnessy September 1, 1923 in Glasgow, Mo. Preceded in death by Catherine, Joseph, James, and John. Survived by his sister, Mary. Larry and his wife Wanda grew up as family friends and later married on January 5, 1947. Larry served his country with honor and distinction in North Africa and in Anzio, Italy. He was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart & Bronze Star. During Larry & Wanda's seventeen year stint in Memphis, Tn. they adopted Deb and James. The family moved back home to Kansas City in 1967 where he established roots with St. Bernadette Parish and The Knights of Columbus Council 4962. Larry started his professional career with the Halls Brothers' business, Hallmark, before becoming a pioneer in the propane industry where he dedicated 67 years of his life, including many years with Gas Equipment Company.
