Obituary for Thomas C. McGehee
Thomas C. McGehee 'Honey Do This' 79, of Aurora, formerly of Milwaukee, WI, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home. He was born December 4, 1935 in Milwaukee, the only child of Eva (Watterich) and Paul McGehee of White Fish Bay, WI.
Graduated in 1959 with degrees in philosophy and chemistry from Marquette University. He married Mary Angela 'Angie' (nee Marsh) in Weirton, WV on August 9, 1958 and in 1962 they moved to Aurora to raise their family and retired from Allstate Insurance after twenty-five years in 1992 and started his business, 'Honey Do This', which he proudly ran until his health failed.
Tom is survived by Angie, his wife of 57 years; their six children, Michael (Susan) McGehee of Palatine, Patrick McGehee of Green Bay, WI, Brian (Karen) McGehee of Roselle, Daniel (Mary) McGehee of Phoenix, AZ, Bridgette (David) Rodriguez of Mt. Prospect and Eileen (Bill) Bouris of Aurora; thirteen grandchildren, Colleen (Chris) Heath, Michelle (Rob) Riskin, Leanna (Paul) Dishman, Jamie Russel, Joseph and Kaitlyn McGehee, Hope, Tyler and Sam McGehee, Ethan, Cameron and Aidan Rodriguez, and Polly Bouris; and 6 great- grandchildren Philip and Mckayla Heath, Lorelei and Cadence Riskin, and Isla and Anna Dishman.
Tom graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee, WI. During his life, Tom was employed by Sunbeam Corp, Vendo Corp and Allstate, and also sold bibles and catholic materials. Tom was proud to have traced his ancestry, discovering that he was a 'SAR', Son of the American Revolution. He was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Bellarmine Council, a member of The Oliver Plunkett Society, a member of the choir at St. Mary Church in Aurora and a Cub Scout Master at Beaupre School in Aurora. Tom loved to play the piano, was an avid deer hunter and lover of the opera. He has traveled the world over and was very active throughout his life, becoming a downhill skier at fifty years old and an avid cyclist at seventy years old. For several years, he cycled in the Tour De Tucson. Tom was an active benefactor of Marmion Academy and also supported Rosary High School.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 9:30 am at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels Church at 10:00 am. Fr. Charles Reichenbacher, O.S.B. will officiate with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.
Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St. Aurora, IL. 60506. (630) 631-5500.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Marmion Academy, 1000 Butterfield Rd., Aurora, IL. 60502.
