LLEWELLYN J. WININGER

 

Llewellyn J. Wininger, age 74 and Jean E. Zitnay Wininger, age 69, both of Gilmanton, New Hampshire, died Monday, April 21, 2003, in South Carolina as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Wininger was born in West Haven on March 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Llewellyn and Irene Halin-Benson Wininger. Mrs. Wininger was born in Bridgeport on May 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Jean Krisak Zitnay. Mr. Wininger was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and worked as a technician for SNET for 36.5 years before retiring. He was a member of the K of C and always a "kid at heart", enjoying radio controlled cars, planes and sailboats. Mrs. Wininger was a homemaker and avid equine enthusiast. She loved the outdoors and will be remembered for her observation tree stand overlooking her beaver pond. Mrs. Wininger maintained a network of communication with her family and friends through email and homemade cards. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage living in Monroe for many years before moving to New Hampshire 17 years ago. They were active members of St. Joseph's Parish of Belmont, NH, volunteering in the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, prison ministry and many other charitable activities. They are survived by their devoted children, Debra Jean Leninger of SC, Susan Lynn Cronin and her husband, Tim of Newtown, Marie Anne Barengo and her husband Peter of MA, grandchildren, Carl and Jared Leninger of SC, and Jennifer and Ashley Cronin of Newtown. Mr.Wininger is also survived by a brother, Myron Wininger and his wife, June of Monroe. Mrs. Wininger is also survived by a brother, Ted Zitnay and his wife, Sofia of CA; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Zitnay of Newtown. She was predeceased by her brother, Andrew Zitnay.
