He was the heart of our St Patrick's Day Dinner. You can still hear him singing those ol' Irish songs. Our Chili dinner is now named after him. He used to compete in Chili cook-offs and donated our decorative aprons.

George McCourt Jr. passed away Friday, March 29, 2013.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 and the funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church with Father Festus Maliwa officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.
George William McCourt Jr. was born August 7, 1932 in Scott City, KS to George William and Alice (Deaton) McCourt. George married Helen Catherine Toepfer on December 31, 1955 in Victoria, KS. He received his education from Ft. Hays College in Hays, KS completing a Masters Degree in Chemistry.
George dedicated over 25 years of service to Phillips Petroleum Co. before retiring in 1984. He began as a chemist for Phillips, later working in the advertising and international divisions of the company, where he traveled around the world. His passions were many and included fishing, flying, sailing and scuba diving. He was an avid reader and known for his poetry. After retirement, George and his wife Helen traveled extensively across the U.S. and Europe.
George is survived by his wife Helen of the home. One son, Tom McCourt of New York, NY and one granddaughter, Catherine McCourt of Wichita, KS.
