Deacon Joseph Alfred Anonie

Joe Anonie, 73, a long time resident of Charleston, S.C. passed away on July 19, 2015.

Joe was born in Staten Island, N.Y. on September 7, 1941 to William and Margaret Anonie. He is survived by his brother Bill Anonie (wife; Susan) and sister Kathy Anonie Savage (Husband; Ben).

Joe grew up in New Jersey and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1959. He served in the Bay of Pigs conflict and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Joe settled in Charleston S.C. where he met his beautiful wife of 53 years, Carolyn F. (Caughman) Anonie. He was a devoted father, husband, and brother. Carolyn and Joe raised (4) children together; Carolyn (Walter) Lagarenne, Audrey (Andrew) Murphy, Dennis (Jeannie) Anonie and David (Jackie) Anonie. They were blessed with 9 Grand Children and (3) great grand children.

Joe was a devoted Deacon in the Catholic church for 36 years. He served his church and community with sincerity and love. He took his religious beliefs very seriously and it showed through-out the way he lived his life.

We Love him and will miss him more than words can say! Semper Fi “Papa Joe”.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Carolina Memorial Gardens located at 7113 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston, S.C. 29406 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 24, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church located at 510 St. James Ave. Goose Creek, S.C. 29445; service will start at 10:00 am, followed by a grave site burial at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the __American Cancer Society_,5900 Core Ave. Charleston SC 29406
