Funeral services for Peter J. "Pete" Sliman Jr., 79, of Leesville will be
10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at St. Michael Catholic Church of
Leesville. The Rev. Angelo Messina will officiating. Interment will follow
at Leesville Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of the Hixson
Funeral Home of Leesville. Mr. Sliman passed away Friday in the Leesville
Hospital. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary to be said at
6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and Monday from 8-9:30 a.m. at the
funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Pat Sliman of Leesville; two
sons, Peter Joseph Sliman III of Leesville and William David Sliman of
Morningsport; two daughters, Barbara Sliman Fontan of Covington and
Susan Sliman Benson of Leesville, and his grandchildren, Rachael Gunter,
Alex Benson, Thor Benson and Eden Sliman, all of Leesville, and Wesley
Fontan of Covington. Mr. Sliman retired from Merchants and Farmers Bank
as vice president after 37 years. He owned and operated Touch of Class
photography. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was
a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of VFW Post #3106
and the American Legion. He was a member of the Rotary Club. He was a
member of the Leesville High School Alumni Association. He was a member
of Leesville City Council. He was very active in civic and community
affairs. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II.
