Leland Anderson Slaydon, 86, of Kirbyville died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 in Houston. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Newton City Cemetery. A native of Merryville, LA, he had lived in Kirbyville 12 years. He was a former teacher, superintendent and college educator, and was a retired education coordinator for the U.S. Government. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps World War II Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Sybil Slaydon of Kirbyville; 2 sons, Thomas Slaydon and John Slaydon, both of Leesville, LA; 2 daughters, Virginia Pavlik of Katy and Patricia Colbert of Missouri City; a step-son, Randy Rogers of Texas City; a step-daughter, Ernette Hall of Lorena; 2 brothers, Archie Slaydon of Frisco and Sam Slaydon of Lufkin; 9 grandchildren, 3 step- grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
