Funeral services for Nick "Pappy" Pollacia Sr., 77, will be held today, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Leesville with the Revs. Angelo Messina and Wallace Palmer officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home of Leesville.

Visitation will be today from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home and until service time in the church.

He died Wednesday, Aug. 21, in Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville.

A native of Beauregard Parish, he graduated from DeRidder High in 1936. He moved to Leesville in 1940 where he owned and operated the Good Year Shoe Hospital for 45 years. He also was a family owner and operations manager of KLLA and KJAE radio stations. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Leesville and Knights of Columbus 1156. He was a former Civitan, Lions Club and Woodman of the World. He will also be remembered for his help in broadcasting Leesville High School football and the Swap Shop.

Survivors include one son, Nick Pollacia Jr. of Natchitoches; two daughters, JoAnne Willis and Penny Scogin, both of Leesville; one brother, Frank Pollacia of DeRidder; one sister, Lucy Pollacia of Austin, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
