In loving Memory of Richard Wickert, a long time church member and 11 year employee at Immaculate Conception Church, a 4th degree knight and member of KofC Council 11991. Retired USAF 1954 - 1976

Richard Lee Wickert, 77, of Goose Creek, husband to Gene Wickert, passed away December 3, 2012. Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late Robert L. Wickert and Clyo and Wyatt Stevens, Sr. After high school he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for twenty one years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant. Mr. Wickert retired from Shop 56 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in 1993 and then worked at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved watching Clemson and the Dallas Cowboys football games. Richard's favorite family vacation spot was Disney World, where he and his family visited often. He is survived by his wife of forty five years, Gene Wickert of the home; daughter, Joanna Wickert Shirey and husband Michael of Summerville; grandson, Lincoln Richard Shirey; brother, Wyatt Stevens, Jr. and wife Terre of Johns Island; sister, Elaine Schwarz and husband Paul of Panama City, FL. Mr. Wickert was also survived by several extended family members and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek. Burial will follow in Whispering Pines Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the church.
