Mr. Gene Raymond Martin Sr., 79, of Southport died Friday, June 12, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington.
Mr. Martin was born April 3, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, and was the son of the late Joseph Paul Martin Jr. and Ethel Carolyn Ecoff Martin. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Paula Lee Gagnon Martin, and his second wife, Elizabeth Duncan Martin; a son, Gene Raymond Martin Jr.; and a brother, Joseph Paul Martin III. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is survived by three children, Teri Lee Poe of Boiling Spring Lakes, Tracey Lee Carroll of Wilmington and Timothy Francis Martin of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Randy Poe II, P.J. Carroll, Zachary Poe, Sean Carroll, Kevin Carroll, Bob Poe; three great-grandchildren, Madalyn Poe, Linzey Poe, Brystal Poe; a brother, Robert J. Martin of St. Louis, Missouri; four sisters, Florence T. Scheller, Deborah M. Carruthers, Patricia A. Wiehage and Pamela A. Worrell.
