Angelo Olivieri passed away on Saturday evening, June 6, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro NJ at the age of 81 years old.
He was born in Brooklyn and lived in Somerset for many years before moving to Columbus, NJ in 2007.
Mr. Olivieri was longtime parishioner of St. Matthias Church in Somerset where he served as an Usher and was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9925. He held many posts with the council including Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree.
He could be found helping during Carnival week in the parking lot nightly and was a leader in the development of the Knights of Columbus Blood Drive and Pancake Breakfast.
More recently, Mr. Olivieri was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Holly where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was employed as a freelance Design Draftsman and retired in 1999.
Mr. Olivieri was pre deceased by his son Christopher Olivieri in 2011 and his wife Eileen Olivieri in 2014.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Hewitt and her husband John of Hightstown and Michele Olivieri and her partner Robert Witschger East Windsor. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Emily.
Visiting will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday. Services will begin at 8:30 AM on Friday at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset followed by a 9 AM funeral mass at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Contributions in Mr. Olivieri’s name may be made to the St. Matthias Knights of Columbus PO Box 5783 Somerset NJ 08873.
