Martin R. Stefanik, 71 years, of Kutztown, passed away Friday, May 18, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was married to Judith A. (Fenstemacher) Stefanik for 48 years last June. Born in Harrisburg, he was a son of Anna (Fifick) Stefanik of Hazelton and the late John E. Stefanik. He was a graduate of MMI Preparatory School in Freeland. Martin had a four year scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Economics from the prestigious Wharton School of Business. He was the first person to complete the Ford Graduate Training Program, in Buffalo, NY. Martin was an Asst. Vice President in the Finance Dept. for the Wellington Management Co., was the Treasurer for Monroe County for several years, and helped to form the first Parish Council in the Philadelphia Archdiocese at St. Stanislaus Parish in Lansdale where he served as president. Martin was a business manager for several parishes in the Philadelphia Archdiocese including St. Alice Parish in Upper Darby, retiring in 2006. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker RC Church in Orefield, where he was on the finance council and he was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph the Worker Council #10921. He was past president of the Fathers Club at Lansdale Catholic High School, organized a fundraiser for the school where members of the Philadelphia Eagles played basketball against various teams, and coached for his sons little league and soccer teams. He loved sports, especially all the Philadelphia teams and the Penn games at the Palestra. Survivors: Wife, Judie; mother, Anna; sons, Robert and wife Jennifer of Telford and Sgt. Adam and his wife Jasmine of Fort Hood, TX; daughter, Jennifer of Quakertown; sister, Barbara and husband Joe Berger of Hazleton; grandchildren, Brooke, Rylee, and Kelly; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John and brother Jack Stefanik. Services: Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. on Thursday May 24, at St. Joseph the Worker R.C. Church, 1879 Applewood Dr., Orefield, with Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo as Celebrant.
