George P. Smolick

George P. Smolick, 77, of Slatington, formerly of Allentown, died Thursday, June 9, 2005 in his home. Born December 16, 1927 in Northampton, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Ganacz) Smolick. He was the husband of the late Janet M. (Guth) Smolick, who died September 18, 1999. He worked in the maintenance department of the former Tarkett Inc., Whitehall, for 30 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Michaels Church, Northampton. He was also a member of the Festival Committee at St. Josephs. He was a member and former president of the Kuhnsville Lions Club. He was a 4th degree Knight of Lehigh Valley Assembly 0931, Allentown. He was a member of council 528 and founded council 10921 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield. He was a past Grand Knight, a past Faithful Navigator and a past District Deputy. He was secretary for the Master of the 4th Degree. While he was Faithful Navigator in 1979, he formed the ladies auxiliary of 0931, Allentown. He served his country in the Army Air Corps, 1946-47 and again in the Air Force during the Korean War, from 1951-53, as an airman first class.
Survivors: Daughter, Amy M., wife of Edward J. Caley, of Slatington; granddaughter, Reese Caley; three sisters, Dorothy, wife of Edward Kimak, Mrs. Mildred Emerick, Ms. Gloria Smolick, all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Sandy Smolick of Trexlertown. He was predeceased by a brother, John Smolick.
