FR. FRANCIS A. WEIR

 

The Rev. Francis Anthony Weir, 77, a Catholic priest, died Aug. 12, 1991, in the Little Sisters of the Poor home, 8745 James A. Reed Road, where he lived.

Father Weir was ordained in 1946 and was associate pastor at St. Catherine's, Old St. Patrick's, Holy Rosary and Blessed Sacrament Catholic churches in Kansas City and Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Harrisonville. He was chaplain of St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City from 1960 to 1965 and was the first chaplain of the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Deaf Society.

He was pastor for a total of 17 years at St. Peter's Church in Marshall, Mo.; St. Mary's, Lamar, Mo.; Holy Trinity, Urich, Mo.; Immaculate Conception, Montrose, Mo.; St. Patrick's, Butler, Mo.; and St. Bridget, Rich Hill, Mo. He retired in 1985.

He graduated from Kent State University and the Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis. He was an honorary member of the Pope Pius XII council 4962 of the Knights of Columbus. He was born in Willoughby, Ohio, and moved to Kansas City in 1946.
