William J. Peters was born in Springfield, Minnesota on December 29, 1922. His parents were Henry and Marie Peters. During World War II, Bill enlisted in the Army and served in the European theatre as a staff sergeant. At the end of the war, he returned to a new home in southern Missouri, where his parents had purchased a farm. He attended school at Southwest Missouri State and met a beautiful woman named Margaret Davis. They started dating and were married on November 11, 1946. |
