C.P.O. Victor J. Barry, Sr., U.S.N. Ret., 80, Raytown, MO, passed away Friday, December 6, 1996. Mr. Barry was born August 20, 1916, in St. Joseph, MO. He was the former owner of Barry Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MO. He served in WWII aboard the U.S.S. Cowpens and was a Plank Owner of this vessel. The Cowpens was the first aircraft carrier in the Tokyo Bay area on August 27, 1945. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He also held memberships in the Knights of Columbus, Pope Pius Council 4962; Fourth Degree member of Father Bernard J. Donnelly Assembly, V.F.W. Post #1000; and was a life member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the D.A.V. Ernestine Schumann Heink #2, and the American War Dads. He was an avid Ham Radio operator, his call letters were K.C.0 J.L.
