RAYMOND E. WARD - CHARTER

 

Raymond E. Ward, 79, passed away Friday, June 1, 2001. Raymond Graduated from Northeast High School and attended the University of Kansas City for four years. He attained the rank of First Lt. in the US Army Air Force, serving as one of the first ever radar navigators. He flew in this capacity in B-17 bombers in 30 missions over Germany during WWII and was awarded the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross on multiple occasions. He was a self-employed home builder and developer of residential subdivisions, apartment complexes and shopping centers. He was a past member of the Kansas City Home Builders Association, Past President of the Blue Springs Builders Association, a founding member of the Eastern Jackson County (now merged with Jackson County) Builder and Developers Association, and a director of the Blue Springs Bank for 16 years. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, VFW Post 6272, and a Charter Founder of Knights of Columbus Raytown Council 4962. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
