COUNCIL #4962 - RAYTOWN- POPE PIUS XII REMEMBERS
RICHARD E. SPINSKI

Richard E. "Dick" Spinski, Raytown, passed away April 25, 2005, at home surrounded by his loving family after a bout with cancer. He was born on July 1, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI. During his military service he made a stop in Kansas City to visit his aunt and met his future wife, Theresa. They were married in June of 1955 and this year would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Dick was employed by Honeywell (formerly Bendix) for 41 years as a tool room machinist before retiring in 1997. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 after his induction during the Korean War.

He proudly worked for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1972 to 2003 as a traffic attendant and eventually director of traffic control. One of his true passions was the thrill of working at Arrowhead Stadium on game day. Dick loved to watch sports and have his family over for barbeques and get-togethers as often as possible. He was a proud parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown where he also served as an usher for 48 years. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4962. Always an early riser, he loved waiting for the paper man to deliver the Star each morning and taking the dog out to fetch the day's news. Those who knew him knew how cantankerous and grouchy he could be sometimes but also knew him to be as equally generous and giving. We will all miss you "Grampy" but we know you are in a better place now.
