COUNCIL #4962 - RAYTOWN- POPE PIUS XII REMEMBERS
LEO J. CISPER

Leo Cisper, 77, of Kansas City, MO, passed away July 25, 2006. Born April 1, 1929, Leo was the second of four children. During his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts (attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1944), and he worked as a caddy at Blue Hills Golf Course (eventually becoming a Course Pro). Leo graduated from Bishop Hogan high school in 1947, and completed two semesters of business administration studies at Rockhurst College before enlisting in the Navy in 1948. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Palau and the U.S.S. Missouri, working as a Public Information Officer, and editor of the Quonset Point (RI) Scout. It was during his tenure in the Navy that he met Margaret, his loving wife of 54 years. Leo was honorably discharged in 1952, and returned to Kansas City with his new bride and first of many children, Paula.

He began work at Universal Underwriters Insurance Company, and gave them nearly 40 years of hard work and immense productivity before his retirement as Vice President of the motorcycle department in 1991. He was active within the church as a Lector and provider of Lector lessons. Leo was also a Chancellor on the Degree Team with the Knights of Columbus Council 4962. As an adult, Leo was active in Scouting as well, serving on the administrative boards with several troops in the Kansas City area. Leo raised a large family, and will be remembered for his complete devotion to the happiness of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was fond of holidays, and of the family's traditional "Thursday Dinner," when he was surrounded by the ones he loved so dearly. The world needs more men like Leo Cisper.
