COUNCIL #4962 - RAYTOWN- POPE PIUS XII REMEMBERS
GEORGE "AL" A. KING

George Alan King, 66 of Lees Summit, MO, passed away peacefully Christmas morning, December 25, 2006 at the home with the family. Al was born January 31, 1940 in Kremmling, CO to Ollie and Mary King and was one of 7 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Archie King of Colorado. Al met Jeannine Marie Bruce in 1960 in Colorado and married and moved to Kansas City in 1962.

With 6 siblings, 5 children and 11 grandchildren Al could not help but be family oriented. With the love of his life, Jeannine, he was always involved helping, plotting, planning, painting, sawing, driving, lifting, moving, mowing, babysitting, as well as going to ball games, plays, pools and fishing trips. Fishing with friends and family was a major hobby as well as playing a little poker at the boats. His quest for knowledge (Explorer, National Geographic and CNN) was only outdone by his sense of responsibility to his family and friends and church in the form of heavy involvement with Marriage Encounter, Teens Encounter Christ, Eucharistic Minister, Soup Kitchens, Building Committees, Coaching, Knights of Columbus Council 4962, Gold Coater and taking stats at O'Hara High School for 20-plus years. Al's Eagle Scout medal at a very young age was indicative of his work ethic. He served in the Army and went on to work heavily in the insurance industry when in 1982 he opened and operated Say-On Auto Insurance for years until he retired on his 60th birthday in 2000.
