DEAN ROBERT LECHNER

 



Dean Lechner, Age 54, passed away August 25, 2014 at the Owatonna Care Center.
Dean Robert Lechner was born on July 17, 1960 to Robert and Loretta (Gerszewski) Lechner in Grand Forks, ND. The family moved to California in 1962 staying out there for 11 years and then returning to Minnesota in 1973. In his early years he obtained his Eagle Scout status by completing a tree clearing project in Oxbow Park near Byron, MN. Dean worked his summer's beekeeping. He belonged to 4-H where he enjoyed horse competition (rings and barrels) and enjoyed caring for his three horses. He graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1979. He continued his education at Rochester Community College earning an Associate of Arts degree in business in 1981. He then went on to attend Mankato State with plans to complete an International Business Degree. After college Dean worked several jobs before settling in at Owatonna Tool Company where he worked for 22 years in the shipping department. After working at OTC, Dean volunteered at the Salvation Army. He is a member of the Elks and Sons of the American Legion.
He spent his leisure time with his love and passion photography, playing pool, and music. He enjoyed several leagues, including horseshoes, darts, and bowling.
He is survived by parents Robert and Loretta Lechner, of Kasson-Mantorville; brother, Dale Lechner of Rosemount, MN; sister, Jane (Mark) Senn and their children Corinna, Mitchell of Fountain City, WI, brother Raymond (Jen) Lechner and children Naomi, Shelby, Sunny, Joseph of Laurel, MD; half-brothers Mark Sevigny of Rochester, MN, Paul Sevigny of Acworth, GA. Isidore (Patty) Sevigny of Alpine, WY and children Marilee (Mark) Chomos and great nieces Brittany and Brianna, Jessica, Robert and Rhoda (Deceased) and great nieces Bryjitte, Tessa and Izibelle. Dean will be remembered for being gregarious and made friends easily and once you were a friend he was a friend for life. Dean was not afraid to speak his mind to anyone and was full of question for whatever came along. He enjoyed entertaining his nieces and nephews by sharing a laugh. Mass of Christian Burial is set for Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. (512 S. Elm). Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of funeral liturgy. Parish Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am at the church on Saturday.
