Michael “Mike†Shimon was born on October 10, 1951, to Melvin and Dolores (Zipperer) Shimon; the oldest of 12 children. He was a graduate of St. Michael’s School in Whitelaw, Sacred Heart Seminary in Oneida, and St. Norbert College in De Pere.
He held many manufacturing jobs and volunteered many hours coaching baseball and other areas important to him. Mike loved spending time with his family, tinkering outdoors, cutting wood, camping “Shimonfest,†and giving creative and thoughtful gifts.
Mike married Karen Staudinger and they lived in Kellnersville. He is survived by his three children; Jeffery (Kristin) Shimon, Amy (Josh) Elmore and Bridget (Brian) Hunter, and eight grandchildren: Connor, Max, Nolan, Atlee; Aubrianna, Logan; Broderick and Brenna, his siblings; Margie (Joe) Puta, Barb (Terry) Rush, Mary Ann (Mark) Knier, Paul Shimon, Steve (Sandy) Shimon, Pat (Jean) Shimon, Bernadine Shimon, Carolyn (Chad) Christel, Beverly (Rick) Evenson, and Peter (Wen) Shimon. Special friends include Tony and Doreen, Cathy and Pat, and many other relatives and friends who also survive.
Greeting Mike in Heaven on March 3, 2026, were Karen, his parents, father- and mother-in-law Ed and Eileen Staudinger, his sister Susan Shimon and niece Kristina (Rush) Klinko.
Mike cared for others before himself. He walked in faith and showed kindness to everyone he met. If you met Mike, he left an unforgettable impact on your life.
Family and friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, WI 54115 on Saturday, March 14, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jason Blahnik officiating.
