CLIFF JARECKE

 

Clifford “Cliff” E. Jarecke, 68, of Kearney, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at his home. A Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Father Art Faesser will celebrate. Private family interment will be later at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE. Visitation with family will be on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. followed by a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. James Catholic Church or the Knights of Columbus Kearney Chapter. Cliff was born on June 27, 1953 in Fullerton, NE to Edward J. and Evelyn C. (Boryca) Jarecke. He attended school in Clarks, NE and graduated with the class of 1971. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War and was assigned to intelligence. He was a member of the 56th Field Artillery Brigade which was responsible for a Pershing 1a missile in Germany. He was honorably discharged as an E-4 Army Specialist. Cliff married Mary Jo Norby on June 14, 1975 in Clarks, NE. Cliff worked for NPPD for 37 years prior to his retirement in 2019. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Cliff enjoyed mowing his yard, tending to his garden, fishing, playing cards, and classic cars. He was known across several communities for helping and serving others.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Jo of Kearney; daughter, Sheila Jarecke (Rob Couton) of Fort Worth, TX; sons, Theron (Kerri) Jarecke of Culbertson, NE, Todd (Sally) Jarecke of Firth, NE and Brent Jarecke and Jessica Kalita of Ceresco, NE; brothers, Dennis (Julie) Jarecke of Fullerton, NE, Richard (Donna) Jarecke of Elkhorn, NE and Paul (Deb) Jarecke of Clarks, NE; 12 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Evelyn Jarecke, and his faithful companion, Stitch.
