JOSEPH "JOE" RALL

 

Joseph “Joe” E. Rall, age 91, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society St. John’s in Kearney. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Art Faesser as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Kearney Cemetery with military honors graveside provided by Kearney American Legion Post #52, VFW Post #759 and the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation designated for the outdoor facilities project. Joseph “Joe” Edward Rall was the third of five boys born to Virginia and John William (Bill) Rall on July 20, 1933 in Kearney Nebraska. He is a graduate of Kearney High School. Joe joined the U.S Army and he served in the Korean War along with his brother Jim. After returning home, He went into business with his older brother Jack at Swan’s Furniture in downtown Kearney.
Joe built a home in Kearney, where he lived and cared for his parents in their old age. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a Knight with the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. Joe enjoyed traveling and took several tours of Europe. He loved cars, collecting art, fine furniture and antique china. Joe purchased a lake house at Johnson Lake which he shared with his parents, brothers and their families. We all have many wonderful memories of the cabin at Johnson Lake. He enjoyed watching NCAA basketball, Notre Dame football, and working outside in his yard. He was known to walk to the Kearney Catholic High School football games where he watched and cheered from the sidelines.
Joe is survived by his brother Jim and wife Donna Rall; by his sister-in-law Sharon Rall (wife of Marvin); and nephew’s Mike Rall, Jimmy Rall, and David Rall; niece’s Kathy Cuddy, Deb Goodenberger, Joan Brauninger, Cindy Sayler, Barb Drapal, Teresa Rall, Susan James and Betsy Potthast.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his brother’s Jack, Jerry and Marvin; his sister-in-law Ruth Rall (wife of Jack); his nephew’s Steve Rall, Bobby Rall and niece Lori Rall.
