Duane married Mary E. Neuhaus on February 16, 1963, a devoted family man, husband, and father. His career journey took him from farming in Clay County, Nebraska. The family moved to Kearney, Nebraska in 1984 where he purchased the Midway Liquor Store, and later worked at Walmart, from where he retired. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, Nebraska, and the Knights of Columbus. His commitment to his lovely yard and beautiful flower garden was noteworthy, some weeks he even mowed his lawn three times. Duane was an avid sports fan, a camper, golfer, painter, and was known for coaching his children's softball teams. In 2023, he moved to Lincoln, NE, to be closer to his family, which was his utmost priority. He never missed an opportunity to attend his children's sporting events.
