JOHN KOLB

 

John Kolb, 86, of Green, formerly of Glen Rock, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon Township.
Born in Chicago, John was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a United States World War II Navy veteran. John enjoyed a long career as an electrical engineer, beginning with research work at MIT and more recently as a vice president of engineering at Graphic Scanning Corp. and ITT Corp. John also owned his own electrical contracting business, Kolb Electric. A member of Good Shepherd R.C. Church, John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a former member at St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock. John was a former Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed photography, camping, hiking and caring for his dogs.
The son of the late Charles and Marguerite McCarthy Kolb, John was predeceased by his first wife, Alice Kavanagh Kolb. He is survived by his wife, Joan Kolb; seven children, John Kolb, Christina Kolb, Julie Baker, Martin Kolb, Joanna Chandler, Stephanie Pappas and Christopher Kolb; five stepchildren, Denise Wennogle, Carolyn Cegielski, Alfred Hans, William Hans and Karl Hans; 24 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16 at the Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Green. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
