U.S. VeteranRetired First Sergeant Howard Douglas Bellamy, age 69, of Anacoco, Louisiana passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, with Father Anthony Catella officiating, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Howard was born on November 3, 1944, in Clarksville, Tennessee. ISG Bellamy proudly served his country for over 23 years, which included two tours in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) and supervised the U.S. Army Toledo Bend Recreation Site for 17 years.
Howard is survived by his wife of 50 years and 10 months, Betty L. Bellamy of Anacoco; daughter, Betty M. Beinkemper and husband, Retired Lieutenant Colonel James A. Beinkemper of Anacoco, son, Chief Master Sergeant Howard D. Bellamy II and wife Teresa Bellamy of Centennial Colorado, son James A. Bellamy and wife Kristi Bellamy of Tyler, TX; grandchildren, James H. Beinkemper and wife Melissa of Monroe, Louisiana, Elizabeth Beinkemper of Monroe, Louisiana, Cameron and Kaylei Bellamy of Centennial Colorado and Andrew and Ashton Bellamy of Tyler, Texas; brother, Dwight G. Bellamy and wife, Elizabeth of Silver Spring, Maryland, brother, Philip M. Bellamy and wife Marsi Bellamy of Cordova Tennessee, and sister, Elizabeth A. Bellamy of Jackson, Tennessee.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; Douglas and Elizabeth Bellamy of Clarksville, Tennessee and brother, Wayne Bellamy of Nashville, Tennessee.
Howard Bellamy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and devout Catholic who placed his faith in God and duty to his country. He was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church.
