U.S. VeteranThere will be a celebration of the life of Deomede ‘Joe’ Simon, 84, of Leesville, LA.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9th, at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville on Sunday, June 8.
Joe was born on August 23, 1929, in Gueydan, LA. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on June 1, 2014.
Joe is survived by his wife Mary and their children, Carol Simon Pilola, husband Phillip of Hampton, VA.; Annette Simon of Iowa, LA.; Jim Simon, wife Pam of Leesville, LA.; Jackie Simon Cart, husband Kirk of Iota, LA.; Sherry Simon Sylvest, husband Weighlon of Leesville, LA.; Marion Simon Pitre, husband Paul of Dry Creek, LA.; Carl Simon, wife Theresa of Leesville LA.; Dwain Simon, wife Kathy of Leesville, LA.; his sister Louise Cormier of Scott, LA; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Joe spent a life time serving his country, community and family. He served 22 years in the US Army where he received the Purple Heart for actions in Korea, 13 years in the US Post Office, and 10 years at the Vernon Council on Aging. He was a loving husband and father and always ready to lend a helping hand.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
