COUNCIL #10370 - ST. JOHN VIANNEY REMEMBERS
MAURICE KEOGH

Maurice Keogh passed away on December 12, 2025 in Barrie, Ontario at the tender age of 95. Predeceased by his wife, Theresa Lynch (2004), he is survived by his children Jacqui Kosterman (Wally: Joran (Carolyn: William+, Joseph, Benjamin, Isabel, Norah), Kate VandenBerg (Jason: Baby VandenBerg), Theresa van Warmerdam (Andrew: Alice, Peter, Damian, Timothy, Felicity) and Peter); Barry Keogh (Una: Ronan, Noah); Kelly Keogh; Natalie Flynn (Andrew: Matt, Makenna, Sarah, Chris) and Nolan Keogh (Liz: Patrick, Jessica, Connor).

Born fourth of eleven children in Colgan, Ontario, Dad was raised on faith, family, hard work and a good party. His company, COMCO Service Station Construction and Maintenance, his many volunteer positions (Optimist Club of Barrie, Barrie Integrated Baseball Association, St. John Vianney Parish, RVH Santa Claus on December 24), and his one-line ‘wisdoms’ were shining examples of love in action, to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed making maple syrup, hunting and fishing. Dad’s idea to combine faith, family and fun times into a family reunion and Mom’s “sure, let’s have it here” agreement, lead to the inaugural Keogh 500 in 1979, which continues 46 years later. The memories of these family reunions are epic and a pillar of Dad’s legacy.

We are thankful for the wonderful neighbours at Springhurst, the PSW care he received at home and from the staff at Woods Park, The Royal Victoria Hospital, and The Barrie Manor.

Maurice Keogh, the man, the legend, the owner of that massive handshake, our Dad. Well done, good and faithful servant.

The funeral Mass will take place on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church (65 Amelia Street, Barrie, Ontario) followed by a reception in the auditorium.
