James "Jim" Dallas Boyd, Jr. was born in Spartanburg, SC to the late James D. Boyd, Sr. and Euzelia Allen Boyd. He passed away on November 7, 2025, at 84 years of age. He was the oldest of their children. They are Edward, Julianna, and Mary Gale Brown. He studied at Clemson University and then served in the Army as a veteran of the Vietnam War. Jim lived in Stuart, Florida and worked at the St. Lucie Power Plant as an Instrument and Controls Designer. Later he was employed in Augusta, Georgia and worked at Savannah River Site.
In 1983, Jim married Phyllis Boyd. They have one son, James D. Boyd, III, who now lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Jim's enjoyment of fishing brought him to Southport, North Carolina when he retired. His other interests include reading, boating, hunting, building small boats, the outdoors, and wild life. He ushered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for about 10 years. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus and acted as their local librarian.
When talking to people about Jim, many said he was "such a kind man".
There will be a Mass for him at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on November 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM followed by military honors. Immediately before the Mass at 10:00 AM there will be a visitation at the Church. An internment will be held in the Church columbarium at a later date.
