JAMES HOFFMAN

 

James Gregory Hoffman crossed to eternal peace on August 11, 2025. He was born and raised in De Pere, WI to Henry and Eleanor (Planert) Hoffman. He graduated from St. Norbert High School, and shortly after joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany for 3 years. Upon returning he rejoined the State Bank of De Pere. While at a family wedding in 1959, Jim met the love of his life, Doris Traeger. They married the following year. Jim and Doris celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Jim continued to work at the State Bank of De Pere which later became Associated Bank. He retired after 42 years. Jim had a passion for fishing especially in Canada with family and friends. He loved bowling. Jim always came close but bowled his first 300 game at the age of 78. He continued to bowl into his 90’s. Jim also enjoyed volunteering with his Knights of Columbus brothers. He is a past Grand Knight and a member of the Fourth Degree.

Together Jim and Doris raised 6 children. Kathleen Hoffman, Teresa (Mike) Kruse, Cynthia Hoffman, Diane (John) Henningfield, Debbie (Brett) Christensen, and Chris (Kara) Hoffman. He has 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Jim is also survived by 3 sisters, Betty Vanden Avond, Carol Brennan, and Ruth Feil. Two brothers in law and 1 sister-in-law. Many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his loving wife Doris, Doris’ parents and many brothers and sisters in laws.

Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00PM. A Knights of Columbus Prayer Service will take place at 7:00PM followed by a parish prayer service to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1305 Lourdes Ave., De Pere from 8:30AM until 9:45AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

James’ family extended their sincere appreciation to Dr Fuchs and Katie at Bellin Health and the staff at the VA.
