GEORGE F. FANTINI

George F. Fantini, age 87, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in his home.

George was born in Claymont, Delaware to the late Filomena and Felice Fantini. George graduated from Archmere Academy in 1952. He had the opportunity to play basketball for the University of Delaware and Temple, but he decided to begin his Real Estate career after serving in the Army. George met Veda Trippe and they married in 1957.

George lived life at its fullest. He had his love of God, family, and an incredible work ethic. He took great pride in being a graduate of Archmere and working with his mother at their sub shop in Claymont. His love of sports began early, and he played basketball, baseball, and football for Archmere. George continued to play softball for several teams into his late 70’s. He played for the Delaware Senior Olympics and was able to travel all over the country to play. He was also very excited and honored to be inducted in the Hall of Fame for Archmere Academy, Marcus Hook and the State of Delaware for Sports.

George’s unyielding work ethic was never more evident than his career as a Realtor and an Appraiser. He set up his business in his hometown of Claymont. No one name was more synonymous with an industry and town than George Fantini. He has either sold your home, appraised it or bought it. He loved working in his yard and could always be found outside.
Sports and work paled in comparison to George’s love of family. He respected his mother and father, he loved his brother and sister, and he loved his wife of 63 years, Veda. He enjoyed his children, Darrel and Darla and George adored his grandchildren Alexi, Niki, Dylan, and Cierra.

George was a son, husband, father, grandfather, but he was also a devout Catholic and a long-time volunteer for the Claymont Lions Club. He was very generous with his time and earnings.
