Richard "Dick" James Rude, 64, of Bemidji died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Neilson Place in Bemidji.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday, July 25, 2014 at the St. Philips Catholic Church in Bemidji, MN with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30pm, with a vigil at 6:30pm, Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the St. Philips Catholic Church of Bemidji, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family interment will be at the Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Dick was born on November 16, 1949, in Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Jerold and Vivian (Berry) Rude. He was raised in East Grand Forks, MN, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1967. He earned his Associate Degree in 1969 at the Northland State Junior College in Thief River Falls, MN, and his Bachelor of Architecture in 1973 at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. He worked in La Crosse, WI, for one year, than worked for twelve years in various Architectural firms in Grand Forks, ND, and Bemidji, MN. In 1986 he started Richard Rude Architectural Inc. Dick was involved with the design of many churches, public buildings, utilities, restaurants, and commercial buildings throughout Northwestern Minnesota and Eastern North Dakota. He traveled many miles within the Crookston Diocese as the Diocesan architect, overseeing or reviewing the many church building projects for more than 2 decades. A few familiar local buildings that Dick designed include: Beltrami Electric Cooperative, Paul Bunyan Communications, Luekens Village Foods South, and Northwest Minnesota Juvenile Center. Some Historical projects include: the restoration of the David Park House, and St. Peters Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN. He was a member of St. Philips Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Bemidji. He enjoyed Street Rods, whether it was building, buying, selling, or doing bodywork. His pride and joy were his 1940 Ford Coupe and his 1933 Ford three window Coupe, which won numerous awards. He belonged to the Bemidji Car Club for many years and made many friends. He belonged to the Minnesota Street Rod Association and routinely participated in "Back to the 50s." He enjoyed hunting, which began in his youth. He hunted big game in Northern Minnesota and Eastern Montana. His hunting trips to Montana usually resulted in a trophy antelope and memories with his family.

He is survived by: his Mother, M. Vivian Rude-Kees of Billings, Montana, Sister, Sheryl Mesrour of Grand Forks, ND, Sheryls children, Linda (Jonathan) Parkman and her children, Bob (Jamie) Mesrour, Mike Mesrour, Brother, Joe (Kathy) Rude of Billings, MT, Joes children, Anne (Joe) Keeley and her children, Karl (Meg) Rude, Eric (Chloe) Rude, Sister, Joan Gone of Juneau, Alaska, Joans children, Arthur Raymond, Laura Raymond and her children, Dustin Raymond and his child, Carston Beck, JoDarryl Gone, Brother, Rob (Cori) Rude of Bemidji, MN, Robs child, Erin (Tyler) Curran and her child, Sister, Gin (Gary) Haberstroh of Mandan, ND, Gins children, Rob Hannah, Danielle Hannah, Business Manager of 26 years and Close Friend, Janet (Brian) Merschman of Bemidji, MN, Plus Numerous Great Nephews and Nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father Jerold Rude, and niece Jodi Raymond.
