RAYMOND A. THEISEN

 

Raymond A. Theisen, 90, of Blackduck died on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck. A Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Blackduck with Rev. Raul Perez-Cobo celebrating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, March 27th with a vigil service at 7 PM followed by a Rosary at Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck, and one hour prior to mass at the church. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #372, Blackduck. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck.

Ray was born on January 11, 1925 to Olga (Gillitzer) and John Theisen in Shooks, MN. He married Theresa Hentges on April 1, 1948 in Blackduck. They moved to Fosston MN where they owned Theisen's Bar. In 1958 they returned to Blackduck and opened the Theisen Variety Store which they owned for a few years before purchasing acreage north of Blackduck where they farmed and raised their family of seven children. He also held various jobs throughout the years, bartender at the Blackduck Liquor Store where he made lots of friends, road construction thru out Minnesota, farming with Landreth Farms and helping his brother Albert in the hayfields. He enjoyed the outdoors and when they moved to Borden Lake he spent hours grooming trails for walking and 4 wheeling. He loved playing cards with his children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were very important to him. And he loved it when he could get to the Casino. He was a great caregiver taking care of his wife during her 12 year illness. When she was admitted into the Good Samaritan Center he would spend all day with her helping with Bingo, Hymn Sing and they attended Mass and Rosary weekly. He helped the other residents as well and after her death in 2010 Ray continued to volunteer until November when his health would no longer permit him to do it.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Scott Theisen, Danny Dearborn, Tog Anderson, Dustin Anderson, Aaron Theisen, Austin Theisen and Brennan Theisen. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters: Trina Belcourt, Laura Welle, Sara Knutson, Skyla Theisen and Amber Zeiher.

Ray is survived by six children: Kathy (Ed) Caduff, Gene (Shelley) Theisen, Wayne (Pat) Theisen, Sandy (Gary) Anderson, Theresa Rae (TR & Joe) Mammosser and Ronnie(LeeAnn) Theisen. Eighteen grandchildren, Twenty Five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, a sister Marian Husemann, brother Albert Theisen and sister in law Carol Theisen.

He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa , a son, Gary Theisen , and a great grandson, Cody Rivers. Parents, John and Olga Theisen, Brothers, Herbert Theisen and Melvin Theisen and sisters, Marcella Walz, Clara Hentges, Arlene Wegmann and Loretta Wegmann.
