FRANK V ROSCIA

 

Frank V. Roscia, 102, of Altoona, entered into eternal rest Tuesday surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Concetta (Carnicella) and Pietro Roscia.

On Oct. 21, 1944, he married Katherine "Kay" Bellacero.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his loving siblings: Anna, Josephine, Anthony and John Roscia; a son-in-law, David Bell; a great-grandson, Hudson Roscia; and a great-great-granddaughter, Jacelynn Lauritsen.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 80 years, Kay Roscia; as well as his daughters, Patricia Bell of Altoona and Roseann (Tim) Madden of Hollidaysburg; a son, Peter (Yamila) Roscia of Miami Lakes, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Frank was Catholic by faith and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

He was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a painter in 1981, after 41 years of service.

Frank was also a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight, Friends of the Irish, Bavarian Aid Society, The Holy Name Society and the former Notre Dame Club.

He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed the Steelers and Penn State football, Pirates and Altoona Curve baseball. He also enjoyed playing pinochle and family gatherings.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2025, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with committal at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 806 11th St., Altoona, PA 16602.
