Edward P. Johnstone, 87, of Allentown, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, at his residence. He was the husband of Mary T. (Fellin) Johnstone, to whom he had been married 37 years. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, July 16, 1937, Edward was the son of the late Harold and Ruth (Weaver) Johnstone. He was employed as a manager at the former Lehigh Valley Dairy before retiring. Prior to that, he worked at Yoplait and Procter & Gamble in Michigan. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during a peacetime era. His love of skydiving led to the formation of an aerial team with his brother Bill, performing over 500 jumps and acrobatics throughout Ohio. His years in Michigan were full of adventures with his children camping, snowmobiling, hiking and fishing. Active in the life of his church, Ed was a devoted member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Orefield where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Third-Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, council 10921 and a faithful member of the Men's Group. His love of the Eucharist led to the start of daily Eucharistic Adoration at the parish. Ed's sense of adventure was infectious, his love of nature and the outdoors lasting from his childhood through his later years of hunting for morel mushrooms in the woods, gardening, growing his celebrated dahlias, traveling out West, and his eagle eye for birds. He was a man of great faith and fearlessness, a trustworthy and loyal friend and neighbor. His joy and exuberance for life was only surpassed by his deep faith and belief in the glories of Heaven.
