Michael Velgouse Jr., 84, passed away peacefully March 29, 2025, at home in Suwanee, Ga., after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, with his family by his side. Born Dec. 27, 1940, in Norwich, Michael lived a life marked by devotion-to his family, his faith, and his community.

Michael dedicated nearly his entire professional life to banking. His first position at a local bank turned into a remarkable tenure spanning three decades, reflecting his steadfast commitment and reliability. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike for his integrity and professionalism.

From 1962 to 1968, Michael served honorably in the Army National Guard and National Guard Reserves. His sense of duty extended beyond military service into lifelong civic engagement. He was an active member of both the Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus, organizations through which he contributed generously to charitable causes and community initiatives.

A devout Catholic throughout his life, Michael attended Mass faithfully every week. His spiritual life was a cornerstone of his identity and guided him in all that he did.

In his younger years, Michael enjoyed bowling and golfing-pastimes that brought him joy and camaraderie. In later years, one of his greatest pleasures was attending his grandsons' football and baseball games. His presence in the stands was a constant source of encouragement and pride for them.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Catherine Velgouse; their daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Andrew Corsaro; and their cherished grandsons, Matthew and Mason Corsaro. He also leaves behind many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and countless others whose lives were touched by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Velgouse Sr.; his mother, Anastasia Velgouse; and his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Carl Bilton.

Those who knew Michael remember him as one of a kind-gentle, kind-hearted, witty, and wise. He had a warmth that drew people in and a spirit that left lasting impressions. He was deeply loved by all who met him.
