CHARLES R. SEITER

 

Charles (Charlie) R. Seiter of Hixson, TN. passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 after a short illness. Charlie was born in Utica, N.Y. on February 21, 1932 the son of Lloyd M. Seiter and Minnie S. Seiter. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Charlie attended Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, N.Y. earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree. He later earned his Master of Engineering at UT Chattanooga. He held a Professional Engineering license and practiced in New York, Michigan and Tennessee.

In 1956 Charlie met the love of his life Virginia (Ginger) Dunn at Clarkson College.They shared 66 years of marriage. Their lives were filled with a love for God, their marriage, and their family. His favorite word was Ginger!

Charlie worked for Combustion Engineering at 3 plants in Wellsville, New York, Saginaw, Michigan and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Charlie took great pride in his family and is survived by his loving wife, Ginger and 7 children, Karen of Ooltewah, TN, Kris Snyder (Rusty) of Burlington, NC, David Seiter (Tina) of Hixson, TN, Mike Seiter (Bobbie) of Hixson, TN, Mary Skahan of Hixson, TN, Bob Seiter (Emily) of Lenoir City, TN and Tom Seiter (Karen) of Chattanooga, TN. He was surrounded by the love of his grandchildren, Chase Durham (Roza), Colton Durham, Aaron Snyder, Graham Snyder (Casey), Jared Snyder, Mac Snyder, Austin Seiter, Patrick Seiter, Breana Seiter, Kelsey Seiter, Denise Thomas (Ryan),Phillip Skahan (Miny), Caroline Jordan (Matt), Rachel Van de Bovenkamp (Rick), Alice Dawson (David), Thomas Seiter and great grandchildren, Sadie, Lucy, Kiki, Lottie, Dutch, Lex, Olivia and Liliana. Charlie is survived by siblings, Sister Annette Seiter OSF, Jeanie Johnson (Mike) and Katheen Krenichyn (Lane). He is predeceased by sister Virginia Seiter (Jack) and brother Theodore Seiter (Gladys).

The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at 12 pm at St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 11am. Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
