Obituary for Kenneth A. "Buzz" Wood Kenneth A. "Buzz" Wood passed away peacefully at his apartment at Monarch Landing in Naperville, IL.
Buzz attended Holy Angels grade school and Marmion Military Academy graduating in 1951. He then attended Bradley University for two years and transferred to Louisiana State University where he graduated in 1955.
After graduation Buzz returned to Aurora, IL and began his accounting career working at Comprehensive Accounting and then Geneva Construction Company for several years. He and his partner, Douglas Sullivan, opened up Sullivan and Wood Accounting Firm where they built a successful business together. After many years of owning their business, they both decided to sell it to a local firm and Buzz went to work for Olsson Roofing Company until he retired. After retirement, he continued to enjoy accounting, so much so that, he helped out part time at Weber and Associates with their tax accounting.
When Buzz was in college he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he remained a lifelong loyal member. He even had the honor of pinning his grandson, Brian, as he entered the Sigma Chi Fraternity which was a very special moment for both of them.
After 71 years of membership at The Aurora Country Club, joining in 1953, Buzz became the longest member there and served on several boards during his lifetime. He was a member of the Board of Directors for American Subcontractors Association 1987-1991 and was a Knights of Columbus Honorary Life Member. He was also a Lifetime Member of the Abbot Marmion Society and member of the Luxembourger Club. He served on many boards including Rosary High School and Holy Angels Church.
His greatest love was his wife, Carol, his family and friends, golfing and the LSU Tigers. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three children Mary (Doug) Olson of Euless, TX, Kevin (Stacey) Wood of Sarasota, FL and Tim (Shannon) Wood of Cayce, SC; four grandchildren Megan (Drew) Johnson, Brian Olson, Blake and Brayden Wood and his great grandson Holland Wood Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Marie Wood, parents Pearl M. (Jungles) Wood and Kenneth L. Wood, and his younger brother Jackie Wood.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12:00pm to Annunciation Church at 12:30pm. Abbot Joel Rippinger, OSB will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery.
