SMITH, Clarence Henry - ( June 27, 1907 - October 30, 2011) - It is with great sorrow that the family announces the death of our beloved father Clarence Henry Smith who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday October 30, 2011 at the age of 104. Clarence is predeceased by his beloved wife Evelyn (McCann). Cherished father of Roxy (Vance), Rhona, Rosalie (Al), Faye (Richard) and Sally (Bob). Predeceased by his sons-in-law Alistair McCallum (2008) and Paul Walden (1978). Beloved Grampy to Rob, Katie, Matt, Caleigh, Jason, Jeff (Rachel), Ryan, Shawn, Kyle, Colleen and Big Poppa of Claire. Clarence is predeceased by his brothers Eugene and John and by his sister Alice Dumond. Cherished uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Clarence died peacefully of natural causes in the house he was born in 104 years ago. An eternal optimist and realist Clarence was never one to complain. As a farmer he worked hard all his life and at the end of a long week of work enjoyed nothing more than sitting in the shade of a maple tree. He often remarked, “that the young may die, but the old must die.“ Many thanks to everyone who worked so tirelessly and with such compassion and care to keep Clarence in his home especially Tom Smith and his family, CCAC, St. Elizabeth Health Care, Bayshore Health Care, Simone Hartman RN, and Dr. McConvey. Friends may call at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 445 St. Vincent Street, (just north of Cundles Rd) Barrie on Friday, November 4th from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 8:45p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 27 Centre Street, Angus on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 10 o'clock a.m. Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Barrie.
