Joseph M. Hlavenka was born to Anton and Mary Hlavenka of Tours, Texas, September 7, 1917. He married Mollie Dudik in 1936. Joe was a hard worker and always tried to make everyone close to him happy. He loved to play “42” domino with his family. He loved fishing with Mollie. In 2000, Joe and Mollie moved to McKinney, Texas. They were members of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. Joe was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Mollie; brothers, Alfonse, Albin and August Hlavenka; sisters, Regina and Rose Hlavenka, Mary Neckar and Irene Matus; his grandson, and nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sons, Joe Hlavenka and wife, Mary Ann, Bob Hlavenka and wife, Rose Marie, and Steve Hlavenka; brother, Andrew Hlavenka; sisters, Evelyn Barath and Helen Marak; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. The last few years before Joe went to be with the Lord, he was a resident at Victoria Gardens Nursing Home in Frisco, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Tim Church officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
