LaVerne E. Klecker, age 73, passed away November 29, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with brain cancer. A Knights of Columbus Rosary was recited Thursday at Brick-Meger Funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Litomysl. The burial followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna with military honors by the Steele County Funeral Unit. LaVerne was born on July 1, 1951, in Owatonna, to Edward and Bernadine (Winkels) Klecker. He graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1970. At a young age, LaVerne began working at the Hope elevator, embarking on a remarkable 50-year career that exemplified his dedication and work ethic. On July 6, 1974, LaVerne married the love of his life, Linda Herzog, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and community. LaVerne's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He cherished family vacations, tending to his garden, traveling to see his Grandkids play sports, and supporting local community events. His presence brought warmth and joy to everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. LaVerne was a devoted member of several organizations, including the Owatonna Knights of Columbus, where he served as a member of the Fourth Degree. He was a past Grand Knight, and in 2023 led the Chapter in attaining the Double Star award which is rarely achieved. He was actively involved with the Steele County Fair and spent many years supporting the 4-H program. LaVerne served proudly in the Army National Guard from 1970 through 1976. LaVerne is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; his children: Kurtis (Beth) Klecker, Kory (Sara) Klecker, Katie (Mike) Ingvalson, and Kristin (Ben) Lindell; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Thomas.
